Pairing a Yale Lock

Yale Locks, while extremely reliable, have an extra step in joining the lock to a zwave network.   A master code must be created, and that then must be used to pair the lock with the LittleBird Controller. See instructions below

Creating Master Code

  1. On a brand-new, untouched lock, press any key or screen to wake the keypad/touchscreen

  2. Press the “gear” icon

  3. Enter in a 6 digit random number

  4. Press the “gear” icon again

  5. Record the master code

To place the panel into pairing mode:

  1. Go to Devices > [Property Name] > [Unit Panel Serial Number]

  2. Select “Add Device”

  3. Select “Zwave Device”

  4. After about 5 seconds, you’ll be able to select the device type, select “Lock”

  5. Fill in the friendly device name

  6. Select Unit device

  7. Select Continue

The webapp will connect to the panel, and then put the panel into inclusion mode.  The screen will display “Scanning”

Once the screen displays “Scanning”, follow these steps to pair each lock:

  1. Activate your lock's keypad.

  2. Type in the Master Code, programmed above, followed by the settings (or “gear”) icon.

  3. Press 7, then the “gear” icon again.  This will place the lock into Zwave settings.

  4. Press 1, then the “gear” icon again.  This will place the lock into inclusion mode.

  5. The lock will beep, indicating successful inclusion, and the app will change to “New LOCK device added”.
